Anything to declare?

Adventuring, instance runs and raiding require a certain amount of stuff that must be logged around: food, ammo, potions, bandages etc. Here’s a shot of the items that I make sure to always carry with me:

• Savory Deviate Delight (might be the only thing that keeps you smiling in the Worst PUG Ever)
• Adamantite Sharpening Stone (for those pesky bosses who are immune to poisons)
• Drums of War (one of the few ways I can buff the entire group during fights)
• Ravager Dog (they’re yummy and you’ll get +40 attack power, what’s not to love?)
• Mind-numbing Poison (not used that often, but nice to have available, just in case)
• Wound Poison (another niche poison)
• Anesthetic Poison (instant damage with no threat increase)
• Deadly Poison (when you really want those DOTs ticking)
• Instant Poison (more damage than Anesthetic Poison when threat is not an issue)
• Crippling Poison (stops runners dead in their tracks)
• Bladespire Bagel (they’re good for you and they taste great)
• Heavy Netherweave Bandage (for when the healers are busy keeping the MT alive)
• Blinding Powder (will soon be history, freeing up one bag slot)
• Flash Powder (poof and you’re gone)
• Elixir of Major Fortitude (helps you stay alive a little longer)
• Elixir of Major Agility (firepower in a bottle, drink up)
• Flask of Relentless Assault (mainly used in raids)
• Thistle Tea (not that powerful at level 70, but still has its uses)
• Super Healing Potion (don’t leave home without these)

Flying in style, part II

Tonight I hit exalted with the Netherwing faction. After standing face to face with Illidan himself and riding back to Shattrath on a Netherwing dragon, I could finally pick up my new mount. Behold the Onyx Netherwing Drake in all its awe-inspiring, uhm, awesomeness:

Working on the Netherwing faction has taken up most of my gaming time lately. So, after hitting exalted, what’s next? I’ll probably work on getting my cooking skill up (more on that in a later post). Also, I’ll start doing more heroics for the Primal Nethers. I’ll hopefully be back in Karazhan soon as well.

Revered with Cenarion Expedition

Getting revered with the Cenarion Expedition is something I’ve had on my WoW to-do list for quite a while. After doing one last Steamvault run and buying a few Coilfang Armaments in the Auction House, I’m finally there.

Getting the heroic Coilfang Reservoir key is nice, for sure, but the real prize is the Glyph of Ferocity (+34 attack power and +16 hit rating on a head slot item). I’m really starved for hit rating at the moment, so getting +16 is really nice. I now have a total of 53 hit on my Stealther’s Helmet of Second Sight (16 base, 3 Rigid Dawnstone gems plus the Glyph of Ferocity). Not bad at all.

By the way, the WoW Reputation Calculator is a great tool. You feed it your character name and realm and it fetches your reputation with the various factions. Select a faction and the tool will show you which quests, instances, dailies etc. you need to do in order to reach the next reputation level. Very nicely done.

Combat daggers

I tend to agree with Doomilias, who finds combat daggers a boring build. I respecced from mutilate (41/20/0) a few months ago. From a theorycraft point of view, combat daggers is probably better (and combat swords better still), but I find mutilate to be much more fun to play. Also, the mutilate build offers far better stunlocking, which is super nice when soloing. However, it’s hard to argue with the DPS of combat daggers/swords.

I also agree completely with Doomilias on the matter of swords. Rogues wielding swords? Bah! We’re supposed to be sneaking around in the shadows carrying knives dripping with poison.

Shake your booterang

“The Booterang: A Cure For The Common Worthless Peon” is definitely one of the funnier daily quests on Netherwing Ledge. It has you flying around the ledge, throwing a boot at peons who have strayed away from working on the crystals. The boot comes flying back, boomerang style (hence the name, get it?). I do wonder about one thing, though: Why are the peons more afraid of the boot than the level 73 elite guards patrolling the area?

For the last couple of days, the Netherwing daily quests have been taking up most of my WoW time. I’ve made it to honored reputation, at which no less than 8 (!) daily quests are available. Blizzard has a nice overview page about the Netherwing rep grind, if you’re interested.

Running around the Netherwing Mines as a skinner is great, by the way. One of the dailies has me bringing back 35 Nethermine Flayer Hides. Other quests require killing these as well, though, which means that they’re often lying about, ripe for the skinning.

Flying in style

The other night I finally got my epic flying mount, a Swift Green Windrider to be exact. It has taken me a long, long time to raise the 5200 gold. I even ended up selling five Primal Mights, that I had set aside for the waist and chest pieces of my Primal Intent set. However, it was totally worth it. The riding speed is super nice, of course. Grab a Riding Crop and you’ll be breaking the speed limit like nobody’s business. Also, getting to 300 riding skill means that I can get started with the Netherwing faction daily quests, the point of these being the nether drake flying mount available at exalted reputation.
